Christmas is coming soon, and it will bring a new ray of hopes and happiness to all of the people in the world. It will also fill your home with joy, your heart with love, and your life with laughter. When we think about Christmas, our head will think about cakes, cookies, family time, Christmas tree, and Santa Clause. When we think about Santa, our head will start to think about Christmas gifts.

Yeah, okay, Santa is not real, but in Papua it is real. At least the part about someone giving free gifts for children. In Papua, the Indonesian National Forces soldiers are the Santa, and they are giving free Christmas gifts to bring joy and smile to the Papuan children. Isn’t that what Santa do? Giving presents to brings joy and happiness to children.

This Christmas, the Commander of the Regional Military Command (Pangdam) XVII/Cenderawasih, Major General Hinsa Siburian will give 50,000 presents for Papuan children as Christmas and New Year’s gifts. You might think, “Fifty thousand presents??? That’s a lot of gifts.” However the commander hopes that by giving those gifts, he can bring happiness and smile to the Papuan children, and also make merrier Christmas to everyone in Papua.

“So, the gifts will be given simultaneously, started on December 1, 2016 which symbolizes the holiday month for Christians in Papua, said Major General Hinsa Siburian in Jayapura City, Papua, cited from AntaraPapua.

In Papua, the air of Christmas celebration is already felt since 1 December. Therefore the gifts will be distributed since then. It is meant to share the love to all the Papuan children, especially those who live in rural areas. Marvelously, this is not the first event.
