Health Care and Fast Response Unit to Improve Health Service in Papua

The government has great concern on improving the health service in Papua. Hence, they create many programs to provide better health service in Papua. One of them is by creating the Health Care and Fast Response Unit. The Public Health Service in Jayapura Regency has formed an agency that will be responsible for collecting aspirations of the Papuan people on the health services in Community Health Center and other medical agencies.

“We have formed an Agency for Health Care in Jayapura Regency which is responsible to give feedback to the Head of Public Health Office about the health service of Community Health Center in Papua that needs to be improved,” said the Head of Public Health Office in Jayapura Regency, Khairul Lie, cited from AntaraPapua.

By forming this agency, the government wants to improve the quality of health service in Papua. They understand that feedback from the Papuan people are important to improve the health service. This feedback will be able to improve health services that can meet the demands of the Papuan people. This agency will give a breakthrough for the Public Health Office and also solution regarding the health service in Papua.

“We are going to give fast response for every Papuan people from health point of view, that’s what we are going to fulfill. There will be synchronization between the needs of the Papuan people and the health services that we provide,” he said as cited from AntaraPapua.

Moreover, the Public Health Office has also formed the Fast Response Unit in order to give fast response for the patients who need medical treatments, such as for traffic accident victims. These are some of the programs created by the government in order to improve the health service in Papua. HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome/AIDS) in Papua has decreased from 2.4% in 2006 to 2.3% in 2013. This decrease is one of the proofs that currently health service in Papua is steadily improving.

These programs also show the government’s commitment to improve health service in Papua. However, those programs are not the only health programs created by the government. They also have others programs such as, Free of Elephantiasis in 2020, Papua Health Card, Leprosy and Cataract Eradication, and so on. Papua Health Card, is a program that gives free medication for the Papuan people. It is created to improve health access in Papua so the people can get medical treatments for their health problems.
